A wholly gripping, enticing and shocking novel that looks at the theme of missing children in fiction in a completely new way. From beginning to end, Young had me hypnotised throughout this novel and I really cannot wait to see what the author has up his sleeve next.

I really thought I had Child Taken figured out around the halfway mark, but OMG Darren Young deviously leads the reader a merry dance, and I can honestly say I never thought for one minute the novel would end the way it did. This is a dark, twisting thriller and a terrific, gripping, page-turning debut by a talented new voice in suspense.

I love a twist, and Child Taken has one that hit me for six. I did not anticipate it, and when I discovered it I found myself mentally scanning back through the novel to work out which clues I’d missed. Child Taken is an impressive debut which stands out amongst a growing number of psychological thrillers.

This is a great story about ordinary people thrown into extraordinary situations and I really enjoyed it. The story was great but oh my, I loved those closing chapters. I was completely hypnotised by what I was reading and there was no way I was going to put Child Taken down

Child Taken is an absorbing story and a real page turner, a cross between a thriller and an emotional drama. I think it is a really skilfully plotted debut novel from an author I would definitely read again.

I have to say as a debut novel, it is amazing! This is a very impressive novel, with emotive themes surrounding the aftermath of a child abduction case. I would recommend to all fans of the crime fiction genre and I can easily see Darren Young becoming a star in the genre in the future!

This book kept my attention throughout and reminded me of Gone girl. I can easily see this book being made into a successful movie.
